Hex

We took Hex to the specialist today. My worst fears were confirmed and it looks as if she has kidney damage. Her prognosis is uncertain. All we can do now is pray.

The irony of it all is that this vet is only 20 minutes from where we go to Leslies for her agility lessons which is 1.5 hours from me. She had been scheduled to have a lesson today at Leslies which, of course, I cancelled last week. Instead she was a the specialist at the same time as she should have been at her lesson. God how I wish we were at that lesson....

How very frightening, I've been keeping you both in my thoughts this past week. I had been hoping to hear some good news.

Continuing to send good thoughts your way, I wish there was more I could do.

I'm no vet Bernadette, and obviously 'kidney damage' covers a wide spectrum of outcomes but it is treatable for people and dogs I am sure. And people and other animals live normal lives with it. Try to stay positive Hx

Just remember Roddy was very bad as well (IV fluids and catheter for 12 days and weeks of s/c fluids afterwards!!!) and his kidney function recovered. He only has to take a blood pressure pill as a result. Keep the faith - we are all pulling for your Hex to come through this!

Stay positive Bernadette, you have a lot of people pulling for little Hex and yourself. As someone said above - there are lots of degrees of kidney damage that people and pets can have. She's still here and we're all hoping for the very, very best for a wonderful lady and her lovely dog. Saying many prayers for you tonight. I woke again last night wondering about Hex. I can't imagine what you're going through or how you feel and wish I could do something to help. Please let any of know if there's anything you need. Stay strong little Hex, you can pull through this.

GMTV did a feature on mushroom toxicity this am as a few humans have been poisoned as well recently. It made me think of you.

I refuse to believe anything other than that Hex will make a full recovery. She is a special dog, with a special owner. Stay strong. X

Keep positive thoughts. Sometimes your kidney function test can be all screwed up in the throws of illness. ( especially since she got to the vet so quickly and was getting fluids) Then as you get better the numbers come back into normal range. The kidneys can be amazing. Diana

My boy got sick a couple years ago and had about 40% liver function and 30% kidney function. It took a while, but he bounce back. She'll be ok.
We're all pulling for Hex!

Hello !

i am terrible sorry that Hex has such an serious illness.

It also sound for me strange that shall eat such mushrooms again and again.

You are sure there is no one poisioning ?
Or feeding rare pork meat as goodie ?
Or a kind of leptospirose there is a kind possible in water at the ways (puddles etc) maybe a pond at your area?

Praying for Hex and you.

Greetings

We have been keeping up on Hex and pray and hope that she is better and that you both are OK.

An adaptation from the "Liturgy of St. Francis" for the blessing of pets....

"Creator God, you have made us and our beloved pets and all living things. Our ties with our friends within the whole of your creation is a wonderful and special gift.

To any who are ill or suffering, we ask you to grant your Fatherly care and healing power.

We thank you especially for Hex, who gives her family such joy. As you take care of us, so also we ask you to take care of her, who depends upon your care. Take our heartfelt prayers and fill Hex with your healing light and strengthen her to overcome all and whatever weakness of body spirit she may have.

As your Son taught us of your concern for the birds of the air and the lilies of the field, bless her, this day and always. In His name we ask this. Amen."

Love - Nan and Ken

So sorry to hear about Hex's current health condition.

And I can't help to find so many similarities (fr pulling out fr World Team to trying to find the most yummy food for our beloved ill sheltie ) between Hex and my sheltie, Nova, which is currently going through treatment for tick fever in Singapore.

With your strength, determination & tender-loving care, I'm sure Hex will know & be strong for you. She will definitely be coming back into the agility ring to run with you. All the Best !!
